I’ve had a fascination for low frequencies since I was a very little kid. At age 9, I picked up the bass guitar and have never let go since.

As many bass players do, I started out in a band immediately, and gained quite some experience as a band player in various bands in my home town. Inspired by all the music surrounding me, I decided this was what I wanted to do: be a musician!

I studied at ArtEZ, Utrecht School for the Arts and Codarts, where I was taught by Charles Nagtzaam, Pieter Douma, Theo de Jong, Joël Groenewold, Michel van Schie and Marco Dirne. I graduated Codarts in 2012.

I’ve never wanted to focus on 1 style in particular, so I’ve always played with many different bands and musicians, and have had the fortune to work with people like Ramón Valle, Martin Fondse and Merlijn Twaalfhoven, but have also played at stages like Tivoli (Utrecht), Paradiso (Amsterdam) and Roma (Antwerpen)

Currently, I’m in four bands:

Tyranni Flock, a jazz/fusion band in which we mainly play pieces by our keys player Robert van der Padt. I play fretted, fretless bass and bass synth in this group.
Violet Hour, a band founded by my good friend Allert van Westen which plays Americana music inspired by acts like The Band, Wilco and Jason Isbell. I play bass and do backing vocals in this band.
Aafke Romeijn, a Dutch singer/songwriter/author that makes electronic, Dutch music. I play both fretted and fretless bass, bass synth and do backing vocals with Aafke.
House of Fun, a band in which I play guitar and do lead vocals. We play all the best songs from the 2 Tone ska era!

There are always new/other bands and project in the works, so check back soon for more info! Also, I am always up for new projects and subbing so hit me up!

I’m also an experienced teacher (guitar & bass), band coach and music teacher for both primary and secondary schools. Visit the Education page for more information.
